Check in is a joke they want to charge more money to check in 2hr early no coffe in the room you have to pay for it. Walk thru the casino is like a flea market vendors everywhere trying to sell timeshares, cheap jewelry, purses. Plus 28$ dollars a day resort fee what a joke hey rio even motel 6 gives free coffee and internet. They do have a nice pool area to bad they dont rope off at least one pool for adults kids running everywhere. Think again when booking this place

We were comped 4 free nights at the Rio and I had never stayed there before due to it being off the strip, but needless to say I was excited about the Rio. I have gambled there quite a few years ago and didn't know how run down it was after reading some reviews before leaving. I thought the room was great. I myself like a bigger room and this room was very nice with a seperate changing area. Yeah, it could need to be updated, but for as much as you are in the room, I thought it was great! We even had a smoking room and couldn't tell that it had been smoked in. Getting to the strip was never a problem with the shuttle at all. Maybe I liked it so much since it was free, but I would still stay there again! The casino wasn't even too bad, I have definitely been to much worse!
Liked: Room size, nice casino
Dis-Liked: Could be updated a little

The room I had was dingy and dirty...really old carpet, old bathrooms. Worse than that the staff stole over $200 worth of souvineers on my last day there...right out of the closet. I didn't notice it until I was packing to leave and couldn't do anything...other than...I will never never stay at the Rio again, no matter how cheap.
Liked: Reataurants were good
Dis-Liked: Several hundred dollars of items were stollen from my room by housekeeping

Check out the deposit required
The Rio charged me the entire amount of the hotel (after I had paid it previously) plus $150.

I initially stayed here because friends recommended this place and the room rates were $21/night. Who could pass that up, right? Well, I will on my next visit!! I made my reservation online and pre-paid for my stay. I ended up going a day early and at check in was charged again for my full-stay plus a $150 deposit. There was an error when I was charged the first time so the clerk re-charged me with the correct room rate. I arrived at the hotel @ 10 p.m. It was not busy and there was no line. It took 40 minutes to check in!!!!!! The hotel ended up putting us on the pet floor, note I had NO PETS with me and I put on my special requests that I have asthma that is triggered by cat fur. The front desk advised that the rooms were just converted to pet-stay rooms and pets have not necessarily stayed in the rooms. The room smelled of urine with some air freshner sprayed over to mask the scent and my asthma was instantly triggered and I had to use my rescue inhaler TWICE and turned the A/C all the way down to 55 degrees to help my breathing. I called the front desk and was told that I would have to upgrade my room and pay extra if I wanted to change my room which I thought was ridiculous and hung up dissatisfied with the response. At the same time, my husband took a shower so we could get on our way out and the shower did not shut off after he was done. Maintenance was called and the problem could not be resolved without maintenance breaking off the handle and water shooting everywhere and so he called the front desk and requested a room change so he could fix the plumbing. So what do you know we were upgraded and relocated FOR FREE and so we gladly packed up our things and were moved to another tower. We finally got settled in our new room and unpacked at 1230 a.m.!!!!!!

Then at check out I ended up being charged 4x for my stay. So what initially was suppose to be a $64 stay turned in to a $260 stay plus the $150 deposit. Checkout took about an hour because of the improper billing. Once I arrived home the bill was still not corrected and I spent an additional hour on the phone with their billing department. I'm still waiting for the corrected amounts to appear because their mistake takes about 3-5 business days to officially go through. All the while I am down $350 in my bank account. Thanks a lot Rio!!!!

The other staff (maintenance, bell hop, room service, and the woman working at the evening call bar) were extremely nice and friendly. The front desk associates along with their supervisors were rude, took forever, and acted like I had made the mistake and not them. I will NEVER stay at the Rio and I will definitely advise everyone else to not stay there. $21 a night is a good deal but the front desk made it not worth it at all. I've never had so much stress and hassle while on vacation. I've also never been treated so poorly and rudely by hotel staff and I am a frequent visitor to Las Vegas. I will definitely stay somewhere on the strip there are still good deals there too.

After approx 25 other stays in Vegas, I wanted to try The Rio. Tons of great recommendations. Everything was great except for the pool scene. The pool is actually one of the reasons I wanted the Rio. Just before I left, I read on LVA there was a problem with one of the pools being closed. I called to verify this because the pool was important. I was told there were NO PROBLEMS AND THEY WERE ALL OPEN. (WRONG)(WRONG)(WRONG). Well the big main pool WAS CLOSED as I read about in the LVA, why was I told they were all open???? the 3 days I stayed 7/14-7/17. Why was I told by multiple HET and RIO people there was no pool problems????? What was left?, the kids sand pool?? and the adjacent pool??? WOW. The Sapphire pool? $40?? Please?? I am not anti kids, I raised a few of my own, but my son (24) and I had issues with the Disney World idiot crowd. This is Las Vegas not Orlando. I thought the Rio had more of the 25,30,40, year old crowd???I do get it, but I came to the RIO because we thought the pool seen wouldn't be 1,2,3,4,5,6, year olds kicking and trying to learn to swim. What put me off the most were people with their infants in Pamper diapers, bouncing them in the pools. I raised 2 kids and I know what's in those diapers and I'm suppose to enjoy my beer or cocktail at the pool knowing that. Another major complaint is the hot tubs, first of all, they were not hot. l best was approx 85-95 I've owned one for over 25 years. Get it to at least 101++++. It's a hot tub not a swimming pool for the Disney kids to go into without their parents. My total 3 days at the pool and tubs were brutal at best. Another thing, they do not have Budweiser products at Rio pool. The internet Voodoo pool menu is WRONG.
