Back there in 21 days for the 4th time - roll on Sept 10th! Nick: Tracy From: Bolton, Lancs UK | Overall Exprience:
Stayed: September, 2008 We love this hotel - particularly the pool area and its been having refurbishments for the last year or so, therefore its always improving. We stay in the Pyramid rooms which, despite still waiting for their upgrade, are nice, large with a lovely bathroom. We've heard the walls are quite thin in the Tower rooms but we have never had any noise problems (even on the ground floor of the pyramid). The staff have always been friendly and helpful and I think its excellent value for money. We love walking so being at one end of the Strip doesn't bother us and transportation is accessible, cheap and easy to get the hang of. |
Review is the opinion of a member and not of SmarterVegas.com Luxor for us Nick: Rydderick From: Scotland UK | Overall Exprience:
Stayed: October, 2008 This was my 2nd trip to Vegas and my 2nd stay at the Luxor. Check in no probs. We prefer tower deluxe room with two queen-size beds, with a mountain view. The mountain view is fantastic and you also get a giant scaletrix type view of the motorway interchange night or day and convoys of choppers lol. Don’t knock it ‘til you chill out watchin’ it with early mornin’ coffee or late night one for the road.
I’m poker my wife is slots. Casino floor is easy to navigate but they used to have a beautiful rich carpet throughout which has been replaced by a very mundane workaday layout. Big mistake. Poker room has good dealers with mostly helpful sense of humor. The bars are also fine to break up your swaree and staff are friendly enough if you make the effort to chinwag. Food in the Pyramid Café is a wider choice than you may imagine and fitted the bill for us whatever the time.
Poolside is great, good mix of people and music playing to suit most. SHOPPING TIP: Get the Deuce bus, NOTE THE DEAUCE BUS ONLY (£2 one-way $5 all-day) from the south heading stop next to the Sphinx. No worries!! It will announce your drop offs in advance. Get off at the Las Vegas Outlet Mall. Go straight in the main entrance and shop till you drop. Return is via the SAME STOP. It goes 3+ minutes to the depot/terminus were you alight and walk through past restrooms etc and reboard back to The Strip. Have fun!! We did. Joe and Bunty
Liked: It's our local now Dis-Liked: Removal of that beautiful rich carpet!! Recommended activities: Beach / Sun, Gambling / Casinos, Shopping Recommended for: Young singles, Older travelers, Tourists Would you recommend to your best friend? Absolutely! |
Review is the opinion of a member and not of SmarterVegas.com Use The Deauce The Deauce Vegas Strip only bus. Travels from north end Downtown to theLas Vegas Outlets south end. Use it and save a lot of walking. You will learn to avoid certain busy time in the evening but all day its very useful. |
Interesting hotel design, nice casino... Nick: Duby From: New York | Overall Exprience:
Stayed: October, 2008 I stayed at the Luxor on the weekend between October 23th and October 26th 2008. The Hotel design is really cool beside the nice pyramid shape it's also very cool in the lobby and in the casino. I had few issues with the Hotel:
Cons: The internet in the room cost me more than 10% of the price of the room (13.99) and I had to use network cable that was hooked to the TV and to sit on the bed instead of the couch or the desk that I had in the room. What about wireless? What about free internet like many other hotels in the states? As for the pools, not all the pools were open and the one that were open were too crowdie. We had to sit very far from the opened pool because the closest pool was closed.
Pros: The Casino was really nice, the dealers were nice and professional and the atmosphere was great. The service in the Hotel (Casino and in general) was very good.

Stayed: September, 2008 This was my 3rd trip to Vegas but 1st stay at the Luxor. Check in went smoothly, had to wait about 10min in line for the front desk but my room was ready right away even though it was a bit early for check in. Our room was located close to the elevators which for me was a plus because i hate walking through hotel corridors for miles and miles. The elevator moves at an incline and feels a little weird at first but you get used to it pretty quickly. As for the room it was little dark in my opinion but once you open the curtains plenty of light comes through. The bathrooms was nice clean and spacious enough.
The hotel is located at the southern end of the strip which is a bit of walking to the center of the strip. There's a monorail that connects the Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, the hotels are also connected by walk ways for those who prefer walking. From the Excalibur you can cross to New York New York and from there to the MGM Grand where you can take the monorail or just keep walking the strip. I recommend the monorail it gets you everywhere in a jiffy.
As for the casino, I liked it. I'm not a big gambler so I didn't lose much. I'm also a non-smoker and it bothered me that people smoke everywhere but still the casino was pretty ventilated and it was bearable. Don't forget to tip the waitress everytime they bring you something otherwise they wont be coming back, I thought I would tip at the end (not a good idea)... if you tip them at the beginning they will be nice all night ;) Liked: Unique hotel, great value for the buck Dis-Liked: rooms are a bit dark at night Recommended activities: Beach / Sun, Great food / Wine, Atmosphere, Gambling / Casinos, Spa Recommended for: Young singles, A romantic getaway, Great pool scene, Tourists Would you recommend to your best friend?
